More private sales beat BTV deadline as Rumsden private sale price is equalled for Telemarque son.

A second consignment of cattle has left Rumsden for Carlisle this week, days before the BTV vector free period is due to end. Heading the consigment were 2 young bulls and a cow and calf to John Fell and another young bull to Tom Byers both of Cumbria:

Rumsden Crusader born May 2007 sold March 2008 for our record private price. A son of Farleycopse Telemarque, he is the first calf of Rumsden Samurai's sister, Rumsden Vavavoom.

Rumsden Canberra born April 2007 also by Telemarque goes to the same buyer, John Fell, who also takes Dot, a piedmontese cross cow suckling an exceptional heifer calf by Telemarque.

Heading to his neighbour is Graywood Conqueror (Doonally Olmeto x Rumsden Pirouette) purchased as a calf from Richard Wakeham-Dawson.

Heading west into Wales is pedigree herd sire Rumsden Udimore. Repurchased from theValentino Herd in February 2008, Udimore was "home" for just two weeks before being snapped up by pedigree breeder Randall Lewis. Semen from Udimore continues to be available from Rumsden on the Royalty Scheme.

And two local sales saw Carole, a Jan 2007 born daughter of Doonally Olmeto join the fledgling Snowvalley herd of K & S Hasemore, as a potential wife for their stockbull Burnside Taz purchased from Rumsden in 2007; also twin sisters by Doonally Prince, Rumsden Chardonnay and Rumsden Champagne, sold to new breeder H G Allen of Bexhill. Two commerial steers with show potential have also been sold privately, this time to Mr DeLellis, who plans to show them at Christmas. Only Me by Shatton Pedro is 13 months old, and goes along with a June 07 born Telemarque son.

Rumsden make the most of BTV vector free period

Departures:

Here at Rumsden we have taken advantage of the BTV vector free period to send a consigment of cattle north to new Charolais breeder Neil Hardisty of How Hall Farm, Cumbria. Heading the consigment was 5 year old stock bull Farleycopse Telemarque, although we have retained an interest in the bull by way of the semen rights. Travelling with Telemarque were two very smart maiden heifers, Rumsden Blackpearl by Tadorne, a maternal sister to Rumsden Udimore, and Rumsden Bluebell by Allanfauld Vagabond, the first calf of show heifer Rumsden Violet, Junior Champion at South of Egland Show.

Also on the wagon was BlackMagic, an Irish bred commercial cow in calf to Telemarque due April 2008, going to join the primarily limousin and blue herd owned by Neil's father, Wilson Hardisty.

We would like to wish the Hardisty family the best of luck with their new purchases.

Arrivals:

Recently arrived from Marting Gibbons Valentino herd is stock bull Rumsden Udimore. Bred at Rumsden, Udi was sold to Martin at 18 months old, and had a very successful show career including standing 2nd at the Royal Show in the 2 year old class. Udi has exceptional bredplan figures and has returned to Rumsden to serve cows and heifers, including daughters of Telemarque now that Tele has moved to pastures new.

Another new arrival is Graywood Coco, and April 2007 born heifer by Dromiskin Viceroy and out of Rumsden Ultra. This one is Ultra's first natural calf, although she has had several by ET. Viceroy is a son of New and has recently hit the top of the Irish BLUP figures. This heifer has a superb pedigree and may be one for the future.
