Pedigree Charolais, Limousin and Commercial Cattle from the Rumsden Herd in South East England

Special Feature Summer 2010

As many of you now know the Rumsden herd is being dispersed in Carlisle in May 2012. The Herd is all the year round calving, and it would clearly not be ideal to have April / May / June calving cows in our main dispersal sale.

We have six cows that have produced heifer calves by our stock bull Rumsden Cruiserweight in the last couple of months that will fall into this category. These range from proven breeders down to first calvers, and details are below. All these cows produced their calves unassisted this year. We would consider selling these privately as a bunch or individually at very reasonable prices purely because this would aid our management of our final dispersal.

Rumsden Thistle (Doonally Prince x Rumsden Nutmeg) May 2002

Dam of Rumsden Docklands, Senior Champion in Carlisle May 2010, sold for 7,000gns, available with her Cruiserweight heifer calf at foot born June 2010.

Rumsden Twinkle (Rumsden Predator x Rumsden Moonstone) Aug 2002

Twinkle's June 2010 Cruiserweight heifer is probably the best of the six calves offered here. Twinkle is a very reliable breeding cow, this is her 6th natural calf, she has excellent milk

Rumsden Ballarat (Farleycopse Telemarque x Rumsden Ritz ET) Jan 2006

Ballarat had a super lim x fatstock calf last year, and now is suckling a Cruiserweight heifer born June 2010. She is a granddaughter of Hampton Ballarat, dam of Javelin 8,500gns to Goldies,

Rumsden Bang (Allanfauld Tennessee x Rumsden Phizz) April 2006

Bang also produced an excellent lim x calf last year, and now suckles a June 2010 Cruiserweight heifer calf. She goes back to the same female line as Ballarat, and is a heavy powerful young cow. She lost most of her tail in an accident in Jan 2009, but it gives her no trouble at all.

Bevern Blanche (Doonally New x Bevern Rosalind) April 2006

Blanche is a daughter of Rosalind, the best breeding cow in the Bevern herd. We sold a young bull out of Rosalind in perth for 3,200gns, and we are lucky enough to have two of her daughters. Blanche's first calf, a heifer by Okapibb, was 2nd at South of England, and sold privately to a new breeder recently. She also has a June 2010 Cruiserweight heifer calf.

Graywood Crystal (Doonally Olmeto x Farleycopse Smartie) Apr 2007

Crystal is a big long first calved heifer. She calved unassisted with a heifer calf by Cruiserweight in July 2010. Olmeto females have lovely heads and breed character. This is a unit with great potential.
