Private Sales News from Rumsden Jan 2011

We are delighted to be able to report some more exciting sales news from Rumsden. Heading west to Cornwall to their new home with Rob Tremayne and Michelle Hanson of the Marne Herd are five excellent females and a super young bull with a big future. Rob and Michelle have been breeding charolais for some time, and are keen on showing. With this in mind they have purchased two of our show cows, Bianca that was 1st at the Royal as a 3 year old, and Charlotte who was successful as a 3 year old last year, including standing 1st at the Welsh National and South of England. Both these are in calf for spring 2011. With Charlotte goes her Hofmeister heifer, Florence, and two keep her company two more nice baby heifers from excellent female lines. Rob and Michelle also picked out a young bull, which we think has a big future. Son of Akita, one of our favourite cows, and herself winner of County level Breed Championships for 3 consecutive years, Fuji was born in Feb 2010 and was a winner first time out at the South East Calf Show. So watch out in the show ring in the south west later this year, and our very best wishes to Rob and Michelle, who we hope will have every success with their new investment.

This brings to a close a wonderful period of private sales from Rumsden, which started back in November when Matt Reece and Kat Gould took delivery of youngsters Fuchsia, Fallguy and Frigate, along with one of our very favourite oldies, Optima. Optima has recently produced for them a heifer calf by Cruiserweight. This was followed in January by the sale to Adrian Smith, Wales, of Ferrari, Flare and Flash. And the much admired star of youtube, Rumsden Fireworks, will be heading off on the lorry to stirling in February to join Mr James Herdman of Alnwick. With one bull and one heifer to sell in Stirling, we will then be concentrating our efforts on preparing the rest of the Rumsden Herd for the Dispersal Sale in Carlisle Market on Saturday 14th May 2012.
