Pedigree Charolais, Limousin and Commercial Cattle from the Rumsden Herd in South East England

Heading to Pastures New

Three smart 2010 born calves will be heading off to Shropshire this week to join the recently formed Pedigree Charolais Herd belonging to Matt Reece and Cat Gould. Two spring born bull calves and one March heifer will join Graywood Cotton and Rumsden Diamond and their calves purchased previously from Rumsden. All three calves have been selected on the basis of their potential for both breeding and showing, and all three are from excellent dam lines. And at the last minute Matt and Cat also made the decision to add to their purchases with Rumsden Optima, our oldest cow, and one of our best breeders. This may prove to be a very shrewd decision as she is due to calve in January to Cruiserweight, and her smart bull by Andraemon, Rumsden Europa, heads to Sterling in February 2011.

Rumsden Fuchsia

Born March 2010 Fuchsia is the second daughter of Royal Show 1st prize winner and twice Heathfield Show Interbreed Champion Rumsden Bianca. Fuchsia's sire is the French bred Alex, son of the top rated maternal cow in France, Joconde.

Rumsden Frigate

Born May 2010, Frigate becomes the fourth son of Royal Highland Show winner Rumsden Cruiserweight to sell to a pedigree herd. His dam is imported French cow, Rumsden Balalaika, whose first cald Rumsden Etoile has been very successful in the show ring this year.

Rumsden Fallguy

Born April 2010, Fallguy is a son of our other imported French cow, Rumsden Badiane, and of Highland Show Champion Ashleigh Victor.

Rumsden Optima

Due to calve in January to Cruiserweight, Optima has been a grand servant for us at Rumsden, and we are delighted to be able to find a good home for her so as to avoid including her in our final sale in May 2012, when she would be rising 14 years old. We have retained a flushing interest in Optima.
